Principal: Jen Benkovitz, Ed.D.
Hello. My name is Jennifer Benkovitz (known by the students as Dr. B.), and it is my pleasure to introduce myself to you as the Principal of Creech Road Elementary School. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, I headed south in the summer of 1996 to fulfill a life-long dream of teaching in North Carolina, home of the Tar Heels. After spending a number of unforgettable years teaching in Charlotte, North Carolina, I made the decision to pursue another life-long dream which was to attend UNC-Chapel Hill, where as a Principal Fellow, I earned my master's degree in School Administration as well as my doctoral degree in Educational Leadership.
Always a teacher (and learner) at heart, I am seen in classrooms and in the halls working and learning alongside students and their teachers. At Creech Road, we firmly believe that every student enters our school with innate curiosity and a desire for success. Our staff is dedicated to fostering a positive and engaging environment in which all students are offered equal access to a high quality educational program. The Creech Road staff is committed to supporting the academic and social growth of all of our students. We have talented teachers and a tremendous group of students who come to school each day prepared to take the necessary risks involved in teaching and learning. The staff and students make Creech Road a truly exciting place to work, learn and grow.
Under my leadership, the success of our school is measured by more than our students’ scores on standardized tests. By offering our students authentic & meaningful opportunities above and beyond the state curriculum, we instill habits of heart and mind that will truly last a lifetime. We realize that in order for this vision to be attained, our school must function as a community of learners in which the staff, students, parents, and community members develop enduring relationships that foster mutual respect, collective responsibility, and commitment to a common goal. Together, I know that we can make this a reality.
